Research Areas
In the project in which my dissertation is embedded, we try to better our understanding of the boundary conditions of sustained self-control. This is necessary to support individuals in situations, where the would like to change certain behaviours, such as a reduction in meat consumption or the beginning of regular workouts. Working in the framework of motivational science, we test new paradigms on how we can predict physiological reactions to sustained demands across time.
Key Topics
- Searching for modulators of sustained self-control (what makes us continue)
- Psychophysiological measures of mental effort (how does the heart react to tasks)
- Developing new experimental paradigms to answer these questions (how to do our research)
