Research areas

My PhD project focuses on how people can be motivated to engage in more pro-environmental behavior and what might be barriers preventing action. On the one hand, I look at the influence of core beliefs on whether people perceive that their behavior can contribute to climate change mitigation and are subsequently motivated to act. On the other hand, I look at factors influencing how well people implement their environmental intentions into action and lasting habit change. I am also interested in self-control strategies and habit change outside the environmental context. To address these different research questions from several angles, I use a variety of methods including online and lab experiments, daily diary studies, self-reports, and cardiovascular measures.
